About us
The Down Syndrome Centre is the only service-led, dedicated charity for children with Down syndrome in Ireland. We have two centres in Dublin and a further three centres operating under our umbrella in Cork, Midlands and Carrickmacross. We provide vital therapy to over 320 children in our Dublin Centres.
The first centre opened in 2014 and has been providing vital early intervention therapy to children with Down syndrome in Dublin and surrounding counties ever since. A second Dublin centre opened in Swords in 2022 to meet the growing demand for services in north Dublin.
Our Dublin centres have an expert team of 9 therapists who specialise in providing vital early intervention therapy to children with Down syndrome. Children receive Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Physiotherapy and many specialised programmes that are tailered to meet the needs of the individual child. It costs €1 Million to run our two Dublin centres and we do not receive government funding. We fund our centres through fundraising, donations, corporate partnerships, gifts and grants. We are so very grateful for any fundraising efforts big or small as we would not exist without the generosity of the people who support our charity.
